Apply fragrance to the pulse points ---

Oh, look - Possum Poop!
I do believe that I will stoop
Down to it and roll around
The fragrance will be so profound

I'll make sure to apply this paste
To my snout and my shoulders,
I won't waste
This chance to impress the doggies in my 'hood
They will know that my hike today was good

But what's wrong with Mommy?
Here she comes now
Why all the yelling?
She's really having a cow

On goes the leash and here comes the hose -
Oh, don't rinse off my prize!
These humans, don't they have a nose
To savor the riches the forest can share
for brave little doggies to smear in their hair
A wealth of sweet forest messes
For good little doggies to wear in their tresses

Well I guess soap and a bathtub await.
I still think it was this dog's lucky fate
To have found rancid Possum Poop,
Oh such a prize!
And I still have a little bit caked near my eyes...

And I was there. This poem is funnier than the shit she rolled in!

Don't you hate it when they find something stinky on the ground and have to roll in it? My two jack russells love it best right after a bath.

This is so cute! Did you write it? It's so fitting too- a dog loves to roll in whatever stinkiness they can find, and are quite unhappy when they must get a bath. And thanks for your kind words about our cat Fritzy's passing on Saturday. It helps to know people care.

Haha. They always have to roll in, or eat the grossest stuff they can find. And the more we scold them, the more they do it!

Here's a cute message about this poem from Pepper's adorable vet before we moved:
"That was great! Give Pepper a big kiss—no, make that just a hug, from me. And don’t forget to tell her I love her and miss her."

That poem and photo are priceless! Thank you so much for sharing! My two cats don't typically try to roll in stinky stuff, but they do like to taste stinky stuff LOL.
